PT-141 (Bremelanotide) vs Melanotan II

Sexual Function

PT-141 is derived from Melanotan II but refined for sexual function only. PT-141 (Vyleesi) is FDA-approved for female HSDD and selectively targets MC3R/MC4R for libido enhancement without skin tanning. Melanotan II is a broader melanocortin agonist that tans skin AND enhances libido as a side effect. PT-141 is the targeted, regulated option; Melanotan II is the multi-effect research peptide.

Verdict

PT-141 for targeted sexual function support with FDA backing. Melanotan II if tanning is also desired. PT-141 is the safer, more studied option. Melanotan II carries additional risks from broad melanocortin activation.
